Quality Indicators for Digital Television

This project consists in the generation of video quality indicators for Terrestrial Digital Television.

The project includes the development of an objective indicator of video quality for television signals. The indicator, similar to MOS (Mean Opinion Score), varies from 1 to 5 and reflects how a medium observer qualifies video quality of the signal transmitted by the broadcaster. The indicator was developed on the basis of existing quality estimation models and new models recently proposed by the research group.

Additionally, as part of the project, an interactive interface was developed, allowing the viewers to qualify the video quality of each digital television signal, resulting in a subjective quality indicator.

The objective indicator obtained and the average subjective opinions for each signal are accessible from this page, allowing comparison of the video quality between the various TV signals, and thereby helping to ensure that broadcasters deliver best possible video quality.
